This is theater like you’ve never seen it before: original musicals performed outdoors under the stars in Peninsula State Park and indoors at the intimate, brand-new Gould Theater. No matter the venue, you’ll see the original musical plays that led the Chicago Tribune to call Northern Sky “one of the most exceptional professional troupes in the country.” Northern Sky’s amphitheater in Peninsula State Park is nestled in a forest of cedar and pine, on a stage that has been performing one-of-a-kind musicals about American life for over thirty years. The troupe’s state-of-the-art indoor Gould Theater is located just a few minutes from the park. Set on 40 wooded acres, the Gould is at once entirely modern and deeply natural, with towering windows that frame the trees and stars. Northern Sky’s summer season runs June-August both outdoors at the park and indoors in the Gould. In the fall, the troupe moves indoors (where you can spy on the brightly covered leaves through the enormous windows in the theater and lobby) for September and October.
