Electric Twilight

Biography

Christopher Amott is a Swedish guitarist and vocalist, currently active as a solo artist and guitarist in Dark Tranquillity. Most people know Chris as one of the founding members of world-famous metal bands Arch Enemy and Armageddon. With Arch Enemy, Chris recorded 14 albums and DVDs and toured the world multiple times (1996–2011); with Armageddon he recorded five albums (1997–2016).
In 2010 Christopher released his first solo album, Follow Your Heart, which was a dramatic departure from the style with which he is primarily identified. The album demonstrates Chris’s broad musical range, taste, and dexterity. In addition to playing all guitars, Chris sang vocals, wrote lyrics, and designed the artwork. Follow Your Heart is a melodic, melancholic rock album with indelible hooks and a grainy 70s singer-songwriter quality.
In 2012 Chris released his second solo album, Impulses, which echoes Follow Your Heart with its clean vocals and sweep of virtuosic solos. Yet Impulses also features heavier songs—as well as a track (“Dream Away”) animated by flinty 80s influences, which can be considered a prologue to his most recent work.
In 2020, Christopher released his third solo album, Electric Twilight, under the artist name Chris Amott. Chris exhibits his love for Jan Hammer/Miami Vice-style music with this lush synthwave album. The album features lyrics themed around the vastness of space—both literal and figurative—crafted around a superabundance of melodic motifs.
