Stepping into Parallels’ universe is like seeing color fade into focus on Polaroid film - combining classic synthesizer sounds with the bite of post-punk guitar, powerhouse drumming and their signature sugar-rush vocals. Since releasing their cult-classic debut album “Visionaries” in 2010, Parallels has released 5 studio albums embracing a broad range of pop, new wave and nu-disco influences. Parallels is fronted by Canadian singer, songwriter and producer Holly Dodson. They emerged out of the MySpace/mp3 blog explosion that included the The Valerie Collective and Discodust, coming up with artists like Glass Candy, Desire, Anoraak, College and Futurecop! Originally having formed in Toronto, they now call Los Angeles home. Parallels has toured extensively from Toronto to LA, Moscow to Miami, New York to San Francisco and everywhere in between. Parallels has been an electric presence at festivals such as OUTLAND Toronto (2019), VHS Vision in Stockholm, Neon Desert Music Festival in El Paso, CMJ, CMW and NXNE and has shared billing with artists including Florence + the Machine, Futurecop!, Ollie Wride, TR/ST, Yelle, Glass Candy, Desire Miami Horror and Broken Social Scene. Onstage, Holly is joined by Colin Knighton on guitar, Christopher Pedraza on drums, and Walter Bernath on bass.
