Biography

Jeanne Galway is an accomplished flutist, particularly noted for chamber playing and for her educational activities on behalf of the flute. She is the wife of the world's leading flutist, James Galway, and frequently tours and plays in duets with him. On her own, she has played as soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic, and numerous chamber orchestras. With her husband she has performed with Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder. She is the author of two flute method books and many articles on education. She is vice president of Flutewise, an organization for young flutists and chats with them in a monthly column on its Web magazine. In the spring of 2000 she made two tours of the United States with Zephyr, a trio she has formed with Darrett Adkins, cello, and Jonathan Feldman, piano.
