Retji has been on a journey of using sound to uncover the reality of both his African culture and race as a black man in America. Moments along his musical journey include reading lyric books and learning popular songs with his brothers in the early 2000's, to joining his Nigerian boarding school music group, ‘Prodigies’, to make gospel albums, performing at prom when he moved to America, and recording & performing music across campus in college. Drawing influences from the Damian Marley, Kendrick Lamar, Chronixx, Fela Kuti, MI abaga, Jesse Jagz & Burna Boy, Retji's music is a blend of Hip Hop, Reggae and Afro Fusion.
