In 2015 Jocilene dos Santos and Nuny Matias formed their current band, Djocy Santos. The two have in common that their love for Cape Verdean music is deeply rooted. They wrote and produced a solid body of work that they are now ready to introduce to the world. This love for the African sounds is complemented by more modern influences, which, as the band members explained, came to be a part of the music almost effortlessly. All of them did grow up in The Netherlands, where they were exposed to many other different music styles: which has led to this mix of sounds. One of the main objectives was to keep the traditional, signature Cape Verdean music style alive, also for the younger generations.
