cunabear (born in Richmond, VA) is a jack of all creative trades. Before picking up the mic as an emcee, cuna has spent many years in various creative fields; a painter, an illustrator, a muralist, a guitarist/bassist/vocalist for various bands ranging in styles from funk to deathmetal. Since doing so, he’s also become a beat producer, video director & more, with a strong DIY ethic behind his every move. cunabear’s music is a powerful fusion of jazzy underground hip hop styles with energetic & unique flows, psychedelic atmosphere, and conceptual lyrical content surrounding psychology, sociology, and existentialist thoughts. Since 2014 he's been carving a very special path through the landscape of Hip Hop, has released over 25 full-length albums, & has shared the stage with many different underground rappers (such as Allen Thomas, Dope KNife, Height Keech, MACHINEGIRL, Jade Koth, Miggs The Artist, Jonathan Brown, McKinley Dixon, ELUCID, Brainorchestra, Uncommon Nasa, & Skech185). cunabear is currently based in Savannah, GA, where he runs the BearTooth Collective , which is a multi-genre DIY music and artwork collective that focuses on building a community for artists & musicians of all kinds around the world, assisting artists with networking, the creation of merch, promotion of album releases and tours, as well as sharing live shows & events that are local to the Savannah area.
