Back in 2013, two black music-crazed individuals named Génesis Candela and Alberto Peces decided the time had come to team up and create a new record label in Madrid whose mission would be to make from scratch the music they love. Following the footsteps of classic southern soul labels, they realized they needed a house band that would become one of Tucxone Records’ trademarks: enter The Silverbacks. The Madrid based 6-piece outfit literally breathe soul, rhythm and blues and funk, and have persevered to a point where they know the craft inside out, dishing out consistently solid tracks that are spot on and without any frippery or ornamentation. Their current partner in crime is none other than the rising star of soul in Europe: Shirley Davis. Their first album together, “Black Rose” (Tucxone Records, 2016), showcased an amazingly talented vocalist with songs ranging from classic soul to funk to ‘70s afrofunk, and was the Best Black Music Album winner at the Pop-Eye Awards (2016). After two years of touring together it was time to get back into the studio and record “Wishes and Wants” (Tucxone Records, 2018), an impressive album dense with hooks, licks and classic movements that continues to push genre boundaries further and is being widely acclaimed by reviewers and audiences all over Europe, and beyond.
