Citizen Bravo is Matt Brennan, a dual citizen of Canada and Scotland. Born in Nova Scotia and raised in New Brunswick, he immigrated to Scotland in the 2000s and was a founding member of indie pop group Zoey Van Goey. Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian produced the band’s debut single, and the group released two well received albums on Chemikal Underground Records before disbanding in 2012. His first solo debut as Citizen Bravo, 'Build A Thing Of Beauty', was released in 2019 on streaming platforms and also in the form of an interactive musical sculpture known as the SCI★FI★HI★FI. His second album, 'Return To Y'Hup: The World Of Ivor Cutler', released in 2020, was a large scale collaboration with Raymond MacDonald, Malcolm Benzie, and Andy Monaghan, celebrating the work of the late beloved Scottish artist, featuring guest contributions from across Scotland's music scene including Megan Airlie, Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai), Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura), Kris Drever (Lau), Future Pilot AKA, Zoe Graham, Sarah Hayes, Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand), Phyllis King, Heather Leigh, Jo Mango, Anna Miles, Stuart Murdoch (Belle and Sebastian), Pictish Trail, Emma Pollock (Delgados), Karine Polwart, Rick Redbeard (Phantom Band), Rachel Sermanni, Kapil Seshasayee, Adam Stafford, Duglas T. Stewart (BMX Bandits), Chris Thomson (The Bathers), Robert Wyatt and James Yorkston.
