Biography

Bon Scott, best remembered as the frontman of the legendary hard rock band AC/DC during the 1970s, was born in Forfar, Scotland on July 9th 1946. In 1952, he eventually settled in Fremantle. Bon’s early music career started with The Spektors and The Valentines, two bands where Bon developed his drumming and lead singing. The Valentines quickly became one of Australia's most poplar bands, moving to Melbourne. The band gained hits with 'My Old Man's A Groovy Old Man' and 'Nick Nack Paddy Whack'. The band soon shed their bubblegum persona in favour of a more serious rock 'n' roll appearance. Before splitting in 1970, The Valentines enjoyed chart success with 'Juliette', co-written by Bon. Bon joined Fraternity at the invitation of Bruce Howe. The band released #1 single 'Seasons of Change' after moving to Adelaide under the management of Hamish Henry. The band gained another hit with 'If You Got It', reaching #2. Fraternity won the prestigious Hoadley's Battle of the Sounds, the prize from which they recorded their 'Flaming Galah' LP and a trip to England. After returning from England in 1974, Bon recorded 'Round and Round' and 'Carey Gully' with Peter Head and The Mount Lofty Rangers, a music collective based in the Adelaide hills. After a near fatal motor bike accident, Bon joined AC/DC. Bon's partnership with Malcolm and Angus Young changed the face of rock music forever. Bon sadly passed away in February 1980. ©Bon Scott Estate, Sonic Rights Management bonscottofficial.com
