Channa Malkin is a soprano on a mission to disrupt classical music stereotypes and share the wealth of unknown gems out there with the world. Known for her compelling musical personality, she was recently praised by De Volkskrant as “a young sound with a mature treatment. Her story-telling is profound”. She excels in a broad repertoire, from Italian baroque opera to Sephardic chamber music. Her latest album, This is not a lullaby, was inspired by the birth of her son and features songs about motherhood, transformation and unbreakable bonds. It will be released on May 7, 2021. Her debut album Songs of Love and Exile was hailed by the international press as 'Glorious'. She co-created the multimedia opera Händel goes Tinder, which took the Netherlands by storm with over 30 sold-out performances. A European tour is in the works, commencing with the International Händel Festival in Göttingen, Germany. On the opera and concert stage, Channa has performed as a soloist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Holland Baroque, Rotterdam Opera Days, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra and many others. She was nominated for the prestigious Grachtenfestival Prize 2020, and is a regular guest on Dutch tv and radio programmes, such as Podium Witteman and NPO Radio 4.
