Biography

With a discography boasting over 1.3 MILLION streams, Spectoral endlessly experiments at the electronic boundaries of pop, hip-hop and R&B. A prolific collaborator, Spectoral nimbly interlaces the ultramodern with nods to his multicultural diaspora (Mauritian, Slovakian, Nigerian, Hungarian, North African, South Asian). Dave Ruby Howe, Music Director of Unearthed and host of Home & Hosed, describes Spectoral as "an artist who can be relied on to deliver highly detailed productions with unshakable earworm qualities at their core". From 2017, Spectoral was a pivotal committee member of Melbourne's sprawling Beat Collective (beatcollective.net), working with countless artists both in Australia and internationally. Some of these include collaborations with Tusanxmi, BANTA. Flavour Lord (Amy Shark, Wyatt), SUB-human (SLUMBERJACK, Yvng Jalapeño), Megadead, The Safety Word, Kathana, Xylo Aria and Adonye B. Spectoral has been compared favourably to world-class contemporaries Golden Vessel, The Weeknd, James Blake, Joji, Flume, SOHN, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and Galimatias by music publications THE RIPPLE EFFECT, NOTION, PILERATS and MYSTIC SONS. With past airings on Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, SYN, Radio Adelaide & PVFM, 2024 saw the artist dropping BACKLIGHTS THAT BLIND US, a hotly anticipated double debut album, featuring no fewer than fifteen guests.
