Growing up in Switzerland, Andy, aka Lazy Marf, was captivated by the hip-hop movement of the ‘90s. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s music, which he first heard on the radio, had a profound impact on him, inspiring him to start making his own beats and writing lyrics. It became clear that music was his true form of expression. In the early 2000s Madlib and J Dilla’s music introduced him to a new way of production. Lyrics were not anymore necessary, He could focus on composition and sound design in order to spread his feelings. His passion for instrumentals deepened, and when he discovered Flying Lotus and the Brainfeeder scene, his vision expanded. He started following everything was gravitating around the Low End Theory and therefore experimenting with new sounds in order to find his style. Since then, his beats have blended Hip Hop, Bass, Future Beatz, Synthwave, ‘80s tunes, and ‘90s dance music. While he still struggles to define his style, it undeniably reflects his diverse experiences. In recent years, Lazy Marf has released music through several labels, including Filthy Fingers United, Space Rules, and Alchemy Union, and has collaborated with various artists. A major turning point came in February 2019 when he won the 12th Beat Cinema Beat Battle. Seizing the opportunity, he moved to LA, where he worked with top artists and performed at numerous events across California.
