Biography

Choco arrives from the Bronx, New York, with a sound that is a testament to the diversity of the borough. He is more than just your average rapper from the gritty streets. His music embodies the tenderness of R&B as he waxes poetics about life, fatherhood, and aiming to achieve greater, which was showcased on his first EP Vulnerable(2017). He grew up in the 90’s NYC to a teen mom who played lots of Mary J. Blige, Bad Boy, ‪Wu-Tang Clan‬, Joe along with classic sensations including ‪the Isley Brothers‬, ‪Donny Hathaway‬, and Chaka Kahn. The Bronx spitter became a student of hip-hop and delved into the foundation of the art form: lyrics, buoyant flows, bravado, and wit. Like his contemporaries, Choco incorporates melody and unconventional subject matter in his records, creating a final product that perfectly blends the old school/new school elements creating a style of music that is all his own. -Christina Santi
