Biography

Nobody Suffer Pass, Broke N**gas wey dey naija.." A thought provoking statement born of keen observation. This is a testament to the artistry of Toyé, Afrobeats maestro whose artistry weaves vibrant melodies with substantive commentary on African percussion, delighting listeners' ear. Born Oluwatoyin Oladehinde but widely known as Toyé, this Nigerian-American singer-songwriter hails from Atlanta, Georgia, yet credits his upbringing in Ibadan, Nigeria, as pivotal in shaping his musical identity. His sound blends fuji, Highlife, R&B, and Afrobeats into what he terms 'Afrofusion.' Toyé embarked on his musical journey in 2018 following an impromptu studio session with friends, leading to the release of his debut singles 'Shayo' and 'attitude' in 2019. His music gained significant traction in the diaspora, establishing him as a leading underground African diaspora artist. Notable career milestones include selling out shows across the US in cities like Atlanta, New York, and L.A. He further solidified his impact by co-writing 'Shopping Spree' for Davido, Chris Brown, and Young Thug. Despite accolades in the US, Toyé's ambition for global recognition prompted his return to Nigeria in 2023. There, he released the widely acclaimed single 'Ni Nigeria,' garnering endorsements from industry heavyweights like Davido and Wizkid. This success paved the way for his 2024 hit 'Quarter Life Crisis,' apreview of his debut LP 'Wahala In Paradise,' set to establish him on an even larger stage."
