A recipient of the three year innovation grant #BeBeethoven, norwegian pianist Mathias Halvorsen has build a reputation for himself as a pianist, composer and re - interpreter of classical repertoire. He is the artistic director of the Podium Festival in Haugesund, and since 2010 he has performed in complete darkness as a member of the critically acclaimed group LightsOut. His first solo album was a version of Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier on various prepared pianos. Mathias performs regularly alongside Peaches in Peaches Christ Superstar and he has taken part in several dance and theatre pieces by Laurent Chetouane. Halvorsen has appeared at many festivals and venues, including Yoko Ono’s Meltdown, Schlezwig - Holstein Musik Festival, Philharmonie de Paris, Queen Elizabeth Hall (Southbank), Taplin Hall (Princeton) and Berliner Philharmonie.
