Singaporean lo-fi instrumentalist/producer "FRE" (pronounced FREE) began creating chill relaxing instrumentals in late 2020 after years of producing for other artists and brands. In collaboration with his friend Anna, they created a persona "Akane Nozomi" who becomes the main character and influencer for all of his music videos on YouTube. They hatched an idea to recreate real-life lo-fi aesthetic style visuals that are naturally found in the form of gifs/cartoon images to post on YouTube as a music video with each song's release. FRE has a style of music that is a combination of lush jazz chords with hip-hop drums wrapped in a downtempo ambient style soundscape with addictive melodies.
