Biography

Lil Roe, born Corell Vernard Temple, was born and raised in Memphis, TN. From a city known for its blues, as being the birthplace of rock and roll, and known for producing (no pun intended) homegrown Hip Hop acts such as Three Six Mafia, Yo Gotti, and Playa Fly, Lil Roe is the first Memphis bred rapper to emerge from the shadows of his horrorcore, gangsta rap, and “Crownin’ Me” brethren, with his very own, groundbreaking, and unique vocal style and “lane”. Lil Roe first began rapping in his teens as a student at Kirby High School. It was at the tender age of 16 that the kid who would later become known as “Lil Roe”, first fell in love with Hip Hop. From stealing CD’s from a local Circuit City to receiving monthly XXL Magazines, Lil Roe immersed himself in the “Hip Hop Experience”. He studied genre classics such as Illmatic, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, The Low End Theory, The Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die, The College Dropout, and It Takes a Nations of Millions to Hold Us Back; just to name a few. After all of the rigorous “studying” and listening, and reading of Hip Hop magazines and Hip Hop blogs and websites, it was time for Lil Roe to finally “hit the booth” and he did just that, ironically enough, on April 1, 2006, at age 18, and recorded his first freestyle/song over the instrumental to fellow rapper Bathgate’s “Fuck That”. Lil Roe has recorded in legendary Memphis recording studios Ardent and Young Avenue Sound.
