Biography

Hailing from Rundu, the capital of Namibia’s Kavango-East region, M.I.G. have the sound of the motherland in their pulse, moving from soft ballad-type songs to more lustrous Afropop bangers with an ease that reflects the diversity of their group. The sextet consists of Callous, Rockid, Slim D, Jimmy, P-Star, and Chuwee the Drummer. Some of their earliest solo efforts include the songs, “Friday” and “Tjaka Waya,” which received support from pan-African media network, NBC Africa, and music media conglomerate, Trace Television. The group’s debut album “Unkurungu” brought more attention to M.I.G., placing them on a pedestal for further success. Their June 2020 song, “Keep My Soul,” was a response to the state of the world as several countries had to lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic going on to win a number of acclaim in Namibia including being selected to be performed by contestants in the country’s version of The Voice (Voice Perfect Namibia); being voted among the top 10 songs of the year by respected Namibian radio station, Fresh FM. M.I.G,’s success, and increasing popularity brought them to the attention of US-based music executive and producer, Donald ‘Jefe’ Jackson who signed them to his production imprint Foreign Game. Presently M.I.G. are excited to share their debut extended play titled Nkeralina which translates to The Day Before Yesterday.
