Bay Area’s hip-hop scene has always produced some of the most talented and forward-thinking artists within the genre, and the latest one to show his face is none other than Growing up in Oakland al- lowed him to have his ear to hitmakers such as E-40 and Too Short while he quickly decided he wanted to try his hand at making the music himself. He was mentored by Vic da Baron and started meshing the sig- nature west coast bounce and lyrical rap with the more modernized and rhythmic take on the sound. He would release his first project in 2007 and saw great success upon moving to Texas. His early records were featured on esteemed platforms such as This Is 50 and WorldStarHipHop where he grew a name for himself with style and poise. He kept one foot in the studio and the other in the streets, and eventually his lifestyle would land him in legal trouble. Years of work were being squandered due to these issues and upon his release from prison after trafficking charges he would record his rebranding single, “Lobster.” Now back in the state of California, Wala is ready to put his focus and resources into where it should have been completely all along, and nothing can stop him now!
