“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars.” – Les Brown An artist who writes with the motif of a Space Cowboy, or Gangster of Love, VAGABOND MAURICE’s afrocentric lyricism floats over lofi break beats that blend frequencies between atmospheric Jazz tunes and Hip Hop. Hailing from Minneapolis as a second generation American, with parents relocating from Liberia, his work often contextualizes themes of nerd mythos, Black liberation, enlightenment, and blues inspired narratives. Vagabond Maurice has performed across the city and out of state, touring with Bop Alloy (Substantial & Marcus D), Ruby Ibarra, opening for Saul Williams, Mega Ran, as well as played the 33rd & 34th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival. His music has been featured on Vocalo’s Music Vox, MildSauce Radio, MishkaNYC, Sofar Sounds Chicago, and has been written about in the Chicago Sun-Times, These Days, Flow for Days, and a plethora of online publications spanning through the US and UK. Dragon of the Slumpgang777 collective and member of The Terra Godz, Vagabond Maurice’s latest LPs – A Garden at the End of the World – alongside the rest of his cosmic discography is available now via Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, iTunes and all other streaming platforms.
