Biography

Jon Davison, Lead singer and songwriter of progressive rock band ‘YES’. Davison joined YES in 2012. Earlier roles include the lead singer of prog rock band GLASS HAMMER (2009-2014), and bass guitarist and multi-instrumentalist of SKY CRIES MARY (1993-2016). Davison's earliest involvement with music was in the church choir, and soon after he took up guitar and bass, which led him to perform in bands with his childhood best friend, Taylor Hawkins (the drummer for FOO FIGHTERS). It was Hawkins who gave Jon the nickname "Juano". During this time, Davison and Hawkins discovered prog rock, and in particular his future band ‘YES’. In Feb 2012, Davison was announced as the new lead singer of YES, replacing Benôit David who left because of illness. YES were due to leave for Australia, and a race was on to find the perfect replacement. Chris Squire is quoted as saying that Jon's name came up as his friend, Taylor Hawkins, had told him 'If you ever need a replacement (singer), I know exactly the guy'. At the same time YES' manager had also heard Davison’s work, and appealed to Steve Howe and the others that he should be approached. Jon has written and recorded 3 albums with YES "Heaven and Earth", "The Quest" and 'Mirror to the Sky", another is now in the works. In 2019 Davison appeared on 'Cruise to the Edge' where he met his future wife, daughter of THE MOODY BLUES’ JOHN LODGE, leading to his friendship with Lodge. Jon currently tours and records in his spare time with John.
