God’s Elect is a Contemporary Christian group that has been singing together for over 30 years. They first started performing when they were kids. God’s Elect, consists of four group members: Kenneth Jenkins (Kabe), Darrell Jenkins (D-Roc), Anthony Johnson (Tony) and Reginald (Reggie) Johnson who later went on to acting fame. The group grew up in Alexandria, La. where they honed their skills, singing and playing in the church, performing in All-State choral competitions in high school, and winning talent shows throughout the city. Then, they were known as Brother’s J. They were highly influenced by artist such as EW&F, S. Wonder, M. Gaye, and A. Crouch. They eventually moved to L.A. the 80’s. And they hit the ground running! The group performed and recorded R&B as well as Contemporary Christian/Alternative music all over the country. God’s Elect continues to bring the best music and performances to their fans. This family group consists of two sets of brothers also first cousins. God’s Elect (Kabe) sings, writes, arranges and produces the group’s music. He plays piano, organ, bass and drums. (D-Roc) sings, writes and plays piano, (Tony) sings and writes. (Reggie) sings and writes. In the 90’s their name and following had grown so much that they received an invitation to The Dove Awards. They performed at the show and was nominated for “Best New Up and Coming Artist”. This was a great accomplishment for the group that they cherish still to this day.
