New to the world, but not new to music Altavise is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; but currently calls Atlanta her home. Altavise’s love for music started as a kid. What started off as being a part of her upbringing quickly became a passion as she would come up with songs while in church and falling more in love with music and its multi-dimensions. It wasn’t until 2017; after the loss of her late husband that she decided to take what should have broken her and use it as a platform to express herself. The very thing that was meant to destroy her became an outlet; a space to express, cultivate and share all that she experienced during a time when she felt no one understood what she was going through. In March of 2019, Altavise released her first single “Amazing”, which reflects the goodness and love that was professed during a season of brokenness and uncertainty. While her genre is considered Contemporary Christian or Gospel it is a genre of its own. Her goal is to not limit herself by being put in a box saying that she is a Gospel artist. Altavise says, “I am an artist, my music tells a story, encourages people. I want to communicates my love for God and how I see Him in every day in my life.” Her music can be described as soulful and rich. It has a sound that you can just vibe too, smooth, but also something you can ride and bump in your vehicle and just groove too. Altavise is currently working on recording for her upcoming, untitled EP.
