Born in Rio de Janeiro, Billynho (Lil’ Billy) Blanco was brought up in the midst of Bossa Nova, in the 1960s. His father, Billy Blanco Sr., himself a long time partner of Tom Jobim and Baden Powell, and one of the forefathers of the Bossa Nova movement. At the age of 9, Billynho performed during The 1st International Song Festival in Rio de Janeiro, and recorded produced by Aloysio de Oliveira and Oscar Castro-Neves. When turning 14, Billy he started playing the guitar. At 18, influenced by Elton John, he starts studying piano. At 21, Billynho moved to New York City, where he fixed residency for 6 years. There, he recorded with Yoko Ono at the Record Plant Studios, NY, produced by Roy Cicala, and went on tour as a pianist for legendary singer Richie Havens, of Woodstock fame. Billynho pursued a solo career playing his Bossa Nova and “piano-man” repertoire at the City Lights Club in Greenwich Village. Back in Brazil, Billy recorded International hits with Bossa Nova arrangements and performed in Bahia, São Paulo, Curitiba, Belém, Brasília and in his hometown Rio de Janeiro in places like Miranda, Bar do Tom, RJ Country Club, Club Med, Gávea Golf Club, The Copacabana Palace, and Blue Note Rio. In May of 2013, Billynho presented his solo show before sold-out audiences at the Jazz Bar of the Lutetia Hotel in Paris. Billynho Blanco's latest Singles - "John Lennon" and "Parti Capuri" are part of an Album scheduled for launch on May 8th, 2020, through Kuarup Music.
