Sylvana Joyce is a native New Yorker and conservatory pianist turned rock and roll songwriter. Her grandfather was a prominent songwriter/musicologist in Romania (Claude Romano/George Sbarcea) who blended the Argentinian Tango and Romanian Folk musical textures; Sylvana's band, Sylvana Joyce + The Moment, has a similar fusion of Balkan/Latin with Rock. Her band has had previous national coverage (Huffington Post, MTV, NBC), has played various festivals in the US including CMJ and Musikfest. "Heavyhead", the band’s sophomore LP (2017) is a dark, orchestral record with a lot of theatre and dynamic propulsion - Think a modern "Queen" meets "Tori Amos". Simply acoustic/electric - no synths or extra production - this collection of tunes is a nod to both traditional rock and symphonic soundscape that is sure to engage a wide audience.
