Raised in the church, Big State was exposed to music at an early age. At the age of 10 years old, fate allowed Big State the opportunity of playing the drums for Queen Latifah at a Guitar Center in New Jersey. She was impressed by his talents and told him to never give up on his dream of pursuing music. With the co-sign of a music icon, his passion for music, chords, beats, sounds and music IQ took off. By age 13 he taught himself how to play the piano, bass guitar, and lead guitar. However, for 12 years Big State experienced many detours. From becoming an All-American athlete training for the 2016 olympics, becoming a college dropout, acquiring the role of bandleader, seemingly falling down a hole of partying and alcohol, to becoming a father at age 22, he has experienced it all. Now at age 26, he has taken social media and the music world by storm with his soulful and refreshing sound. In just one year of picking back up the gift of music, he has gained thousands of fans, hundreds of thousands of streams, and is rubbing shoulders with some of the entertainment industry's early risers and heavy hitters. His goal is to create sounds that will last beyond his years and inspire generations. With the immense amount of dedication that Big State shows to his craft, his goals will no doubt be a reality.
