-In 1960, a young comic released an LP of his first-ever stage performance called, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart. It was the largest selling album ever, to that point. Is there a Button-Down Mind for the Digital Age? It s George Chen! - Jello Biafra George Chen was a musician, writer, and event organizer before finding a place in standup comedy. As an upstart producer, Chen put on comedy shows on a moving bus at Occupy Oakland, backyards, and still-life drawing classes. He ran the weekly showcase Cynic Cave at Lost Weekend Video from 2012-2016, known as an underground San Francisco comedy gem. Now based in Los Angeles George has been putting on shows at Giant Robot Gallery and Machine Project. He has performed at the SFMoMA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Crash Test with Huebel and Scheer, as well as multiple appearances at SF Sketchfest and Put Your Hands Together. He hosts the documentary discussion podcast Sup Doc, worked on the bill-splitting app EquiTable, and has appeared on the HBO series Looking.
