Sheldon Whyte, who goes by the stage name ‘Dane Hype’ is passionate about music. The artiste, who hails from Montego Bay, aims to become an established reggae and dancehall artiste, in Jamaica and internationally. Currently, he is focused on building his career in Jamaica and has done a number of singles in his quest to become recognized in the industry. Sheldon was born on August 10, 1990 at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St. James. He was raised in John’s Hall, in South Central St. James. He attended the Springmount Basic School. His family later moved to Granville (Retirement Area). He enrolled at the Barracks Road Primary School, in Montego Bay, and then the Anchovy High School, located in Southern St. James. It was while attending Anchovy High School, in 2007 that he started doing music. He would perform at various events in his community from time to time as well as at school. He was part of the group ‘Hype Brothers’ and was named ‘Dane Hype’. He has decided to maintain ‘Dane Hype’ as his professional stage name. He has always admired the work of Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killa, Jah Cure, Sizzla, Lady Saw and Movado. In 2008, Sheldon decided to become a professional artiste. Since then, he has performed at various entertainment events throughout the length and breadth of Jamaica. Sheldon has also worked with a number of producers – locally and overseas; among them - Victory One Production, Collaboration Records and Promuzik Production. (UPDATE ETC..
