Biography

August Traeger blends abstract digital composition, databent sound sculpture, and dense electro-acoustic landscapes into a swirling soup of weirdness. Since 2013 he has released a string of diverse albums on various labels including his own Bicephalic Records (see Bicephalic Records Artists Collection ). The first release credited as August Traeger was Mechanical Milk, a musique concrete cassette for the Spanish label For Noise's Sake in 2013. This was followed by a split with Invertabit called Cacophonies which is composed from field records of birds, exemplified by the track Harsh Bird Wall. Tinkle Tangle was released in 2017 as a companion ep for August's summer tour which saw him creating found-sound improvised sequences using the max/msp software. These explorations into live improvised max/MSP universes continued on the live2018ep and the live2017ep (released as at.). August's latest string of albums has combined electro-acoustic music with dark industrial overtones. 2017's Azimuth is a short ep conjuring bleak basement environments. Dead Wisconsin is a collection of dark cracklescapes, with the title track evoking robo-goth doom-pop. 2018's The Harbinger continues the theme as a post-industrial ode to ritual mysticism. Additional projects and collaborations include Odd Person (lo-fi techno weirdness & exotic strangewave), Earthsect (organic acoustic drone & ritual soundscapes), Food World (harsh noise experiments), & Somnaphon (dreamscape electronics).
