Biography

David Ernst Molnar (*1977) is a Swedish classical pianist with Hungarian roots. On his mother´s side the family´s musical heritage can be traced back to legendary choir conductor Zoltán Vásárhelyi. David started playing the violin when he was six years old, but later switched to the piano, receiving his first training with Vincent Trappman. He studied with László Baranyay, himself a pupil of Imre Ungár and Stanislav Neuhaus, at his recurrent master-classes in Hungary for more than 10 years and has taken master-classes and private instruction with the renowned harpsichordist János Sebestyén as well as master-classes with Jenö Jandó and Balázs Szokolay. He has numerous recordings with Lalliox including the complete Brahms piano trios, Mozart sonatas and variations, and Schubert impromptus for piano. Apart from being a prolific recording artist, having several ongoing projects, he is also a physician, something that gives him another perspective on musicianship.
