Biography

Khan is a Hip Hop recording and performing artist who grew up in Modesto, California. Since childhood Khan has had creative and musical inclinations. Being a first generation Indian American and child of immigrant parents from Fiji, Khan pursued an education at UC Santa Cruz where he found venues to share his raps and develop his artistry. Frequently switching hats between being an emcee, community organizer, and arts educator, Khan’s work spread throughout the broader Central Coast. Beginning in 2010, he carved a name for himself in the Santa Cruz scene as a live performer showcasing freestyles and unreleased songs anywhere from parking lots to open mics, house parties, local radio shows, and eventually onto stages in premier nightclubs and bars. After years of being strictly a live act, Khan recorded and released his first project in 2016, Strike Anywhere Mixtape. This mixtape, emphasizing a classic boombap sound with conscious lyrics, was uniquely released as a physical matchbook with a QR Code that would connect listeners to streaming sites. Since then, Khan has consistently released original albums and collaborations with artists from the SF Bay Area to New York City. Notable collaborators include Masta Ace, Equipto, Brycon, OJ The Producer, 1 A.M., Olright, and Ghost Hour. Khan is still doing his thing in and around the Santa Cruz Central Coast where you might catch him performing at a street cypher, throwing a show, or hitting stages at local venues.
