Jalen Grandchamps, aka Jay Gxld, is an artist from Brooklyn, NY. He draws his inspiration from rappers such as The Underachievers, T-Pain, and Kanye West. His mission is to Spread Love through music, and break the boundaries and stigmas currently set on today’s rappers. This is seen in his works such as his Valentine’s Day EP “Lxve, Gxld,” “My Dear,” and “Chai Tea,” which showcase vulnerable lyrics, and playful melodies. Jay Gxld also showcases his ability to bend words to his will with songs like “Drip,” “This Is It,” and “Tiramisu,” with rapid flows and intense rhyme schemes. His full length album, "Gxld Lotus," is a personal project, outlining his struggles with sobriety, confidence, and relationships. He treats the music like a journal, it is full of experiences that we all go through, good or bad. He called the album Gxld Lotus from the concept that Lotus flowers blossom beautifully in mud - through hardship is where we learn and gain the most.
