Biography

Formerly known as Dizastah, Yinka Diz is the slick talking Chicago born, Southern California bred Nigerian American world traveler fashions himself as a hip-hop renaissance man. As a youth, Yinka discovered his voice in hip-hop as an activity and an outlet that quickly became an obsession. As a teen, he traveled the world as a battle tested emcee and hip-hop producer known as Dizastah. He later returned stateside where he studied Engineering at the University of Virginia (UVA). There, he made a name for himself on campus as UVA's premier DJ and event promoter. After graduating, he co-organized and embarked on a four country West Africa tour, which led to his return the following year to take part in the African Music Awards Showcase. Upon returning, he decided to shift his focus toward being a recording artist, taking his given name - Yinka - under which he released a pair of Basquiat inspired mixtapes (New Art, New Money and The Radiant Child) and creating a bi-weekly hip-hop podcast entitled 80z Babies where he discusses classic (and not so classic) hip-hop albums and happenings with fellow UVA alum Outlaw. Presently, Yinka resides in Washington, D.C. where he's prepping his follow up release entitled The Departure LP coming sooner than you think.
