Shane “Nahtra” Alexander was born in Kingston Jamaica. He grew up in the Kingston 13 area where he was educated at Rousseau Primary and matriculated to Norman Manley High School. It was in the early stages of primary school where Senatra discovered his love and passion for music, with the likes of King Yellow Man, Bob Marley and Buju Banton being a constant source of inspiration he decided to pursue a career in the music industry after high school. With his best friend and musical partner Giovanni Fagan, AKA Darker Shades by his side, he quickly became the talk of the town with the hit singles, “Mash Up Head” and “Hotter Dan Dem”. Senatra quickly realized that he was as good in the studio as he was on stage when he started ripping the stage at the Chislom Jamborees. These little community shows did not go unnoticed as promoters gravitated towards their style of performing. “Darker Shades and Kyda”, as they were called back in 2011 were growing fast, and being booked all over, from the Claro Road Show in New Kingston Jamaica performing alongside some of dancehall’s greatest like Aidonia, Etana, Gwhiz, to performing in Tampa Bay Florida USA, alongside Lady Saw and Papa Pimp.
