Jeanne Mayle Trio (Live at Nick's Cafe...

Biography

Between 1976 and 1983, Brian Lloyd played in several rock and roll bands based in eastern West Virginia. They performed a mix of originals and covers and, at their peak, developed a consistent following in local clubs, including several in Frederick (MD), the largest urban market they managed to crack. Their home base, however, was always Shepherdstown (WV), a small college town on the Potomac River. In 1982, he and his brother, Greg, formed a trio with Jeanne Mayle — another local musician. They were an acoustic act with a taste for tight, three-part harmonies.
“The Jeanne Mayle Trio, Live at Nick’s Café” is a recording of a performance (May 1983) at a club in Martinsburg (WV). The album contains an eclectic mix of covers and three of Brian's originals (“Beneath Love and Toil,” “Dancin’ on the Edge,” “Ain’t That Enough”). Such engineering as occurred was done by “Satch” Alwin. The trio performed its last gig that summer, as Brian headed off thereafter to Ann Arbor and graduate school. He now makes a living as a historian but has written a batch of new songs that he hopes to make available soon.
Thanks to Corey Silverman-Lloyd for having the wherewithal to make Brian's music accessible to the world. It is dedicated to the memory of Greg and Satch, both now deceased.
