Biography

Ivana Céspedes Jordan, known as Vi Jordan (pronounced “vee”), is a jazz, r&b, soul singer in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. At 18 years old, Vi began her work in the music industry as a classical pianist/accompanist, but soon realized her calling was in vocal work. She started singing with the College of the Canyons vocal ensemble, Just Jazz, under the direction of Julie Lawson, where she was able to perform varying vocal solos and small ensemble a cappella numbers at the Monterey Jazz Festival and Jazz Educators Network in Austin, Texas to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place national rankings. After gaining traction as a jazz vocalist, Vi ventured into the more soulful genres, singing gospel with Scott Smith, formerly Andrae Crouch’s producer, and doing session work for numerous TV shows as an r&b/pop/a cappella singer, as well as performing on Disney Hits “Encanto.” Befriending a few key members of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vi was able to sing and play with them on a classic Leon Ware tune, which in turn became a YouTube hit, “If I Ever Lose This Heaven” (a tribute to Average White Band). Reaching over a million and a half views in just a couple months, Vi was skyrocketed into the public eye, leading her to create her upcoming EP, “Vi Jordan.” Beginning its release on Christmas Eve this year, “Vi Jordan” will revisit iconic classics with a touch of modern r&b, gospel and jazz.
