Mystic, futurist, alchemist and rugged humanist, SUM is a two time Indie Music Awards Nominee who has throughout his 20+ year career defied any expectation of what paths a rapper/songwriter is supposed to follow. Almost entirely DIY, SUM's songs have appeared in Breaking Bad, Saints Row The Third, Saints Row IV, Sons of Anarchy, and countless network television shows. The frontman of The Milky Way has collaborated with legendary musicians Ski Beatz, Needlz, Jesse Shatkin, Nate Donmoyer, Blockhead, P.U.D.G.E, DK The Punisher, Meshell N’Degeocello, stic.man, Tash of Tha Alkaholiks, Ikey Owens (RIP) and many others in his quest for artistic sovereignty. Ever the explorer, SUM often finds himself in spaces years before they enter mainstream conversations. This is largely due to his work as a highly sought after creative director in marketing, tech and higher ed. He has wrapped his mind and art around AI and other emerging tech early, always with a touch of soul and the intent of liberating the tech for the people. He continues to enjoy creating and releasing music for a number of different projects and collaborations, most recently releasing his LP, House of the Red Solar Sky, which features collaborations with Meshell N’Degeocello, stic.man (Dead Prez), Big Rube, Floating Action, Ursula Rucker, Tash of Tha Alkaholiks and more.
