Kamil Erdem is a guitarist, bassist, composer, and educator based in Istanbul, Turkey. His musical identity is reflected in his compositions and performances inspired by various traditional genres, mainly jazz, Latin, and tango, as well as the traditional music of his native country. During the first years of his professional music career, Erdem founded the Turkish jazz-fusion group Asiaminor, which has given him access to the international music scene for more than 10 years. As the leader of several projects, he performed at many international events worldwide and released seven albums. Erdem has an international career as a teacher and clinician, having conducted master classes, workshops, and seminars in various countries. Between 2001 and 2016, he had been a faculty member at the Music Dept. of Yıldız Technical University, Istanbul. In recent years, Kamil has been focusing more intensely on composing for and performing with the classical guitar, which was the first instrument he took up. In addition to his solo recitals, he played concerts in duo, trio, and quartet formats on the classical guitar at university concerts and festivals in Turkey. In 2022, his single "Paraguay" was released, followed by the release of the complete album, Interactions, in 2023. Interactions is a culmination of Kamil's guitar music in original compositions with a blend of Latin and Turkish music traditions.
