As one of the most innovative Blues musicians in Germany, Richard Bargel celebrated his 50th stage anniversary and 70th birthday in 2021. Deeply rooted in traditional Blues and a wizard of bottleneck guitar he reinvented himself again on his latest record „Dead Slow Stampede“. Growing up in the vibrant art scene of Cologne in the 60s, he got his inspiration from Blues giants such as Bukka White and shaped his distinctive guitar style over countless gigs all over the world. Since he released his notorious debut record „Blue Steel“ in 1977 he proved to be a staple in the German Blues scene. Being the host of the classic German Blues Talkshow „Talkin’ Blues“ for over 30 years, he played with most of the big names in the Blues and Americana universe and manifested his artistry not only as a musician, but also as an actor, writer and photographer. With his band „Dead Slow Stampede“ he captures the raw energy of his poetic songwriting, drawn from a life with many ups and downs, now converted into an opulent record, produced by his longtime guitarist and musical son Fabio Nettekoven. It combines Folk, Blues and Americana roots with an instrumentation that is not often heard in these genres. The recording shows him at the prime of his singing and guitar playing and at the beginning of a new chapter of his life.
