Melissa J was born in Brooklyn, New York, of Puerto Rican & Salvadorian descent. Her father played a large role in introducing her to music, but no one could have known how that would ultimately go on to shape her life. Heavily influenced by the likes of R&B icons Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey, Melissa J strives to carry on traditions that have since been lost in today’s industry. Following the success she has gone on to collaborate with Havoc of Mobb Deep, French Montana, and a slew of other notable names. However,Melissa has decided to display a more vulnerable side to her fans. The project, entitled “This is me”, will give fans an in-depth look into the roller coaster of emotions exhibited during her previous relationship. Addressing everything from lust to heartbreak, and everything in between, this project proves to be one that EVERY listener can relate to.
