Through the gentle and consoling sounds of her voice and harmonies, as opposed to her rather robust and vigorous-like lyrics, singer-songwriter Maya Mae creates a sound that could be described as a fusion of contemporary RnB, Soul and Urban Pop. Most of her influences come from the Funk, Fusion Jazz, Soul and mostly Motown artists that have played a huge part in her upbringing. Along with her passion for music, she’s also determined to cultivate her passion for film and direction. This results in Maya writing screenplays and directing music videos for herself and others, combining her musical and visual attributes for the sake of creation. Currently she is working on her EP. There is a spiritual aspect that takes the forefront in her music, through her layered background vocals mixed with eastern-like sounds and electronic drums she shares her personal views on her internal and external world. Artists that she draws most of her inspiration from are Rosalia, SZA, The Weeknd, Sabrina Claudio, Sade and Solange. Having debuted in 2020 with her first single ‘Leave Me Alone’, followed up with ‘Breathe Me’ and ‘Delusional’, Maya is now working on new music to be released in 2023.
