Born and raised in West London, Flares the Spirit got early exposure to music through the cities very own growing Grime and Garage scenes as well through the sounds of Reggae, Calypso and Neo-Soul played throughout his household. These influences had the young artist pick up a pen to start writing music in his early teens and by the time he hit 15 he was travelling across and around London performing at open mics and freestyling on various YouTube channels across the city. Around this time UK Rap became more and more prevalent, a fact that made Flares the Spirit more motivated to polish his style and improve as an overall Artist. From 2016 to early 2019 under the name "Flares" released several free songs for both streaming and download many of which were written out of a university room or on public transport and some of which featured other talented London based artists. From mid 2019 to early 2020 still going by Flares he released several songs on Spotify which started to get local support before the eventual rebrand towards the end of the year to the name "Flares the Spirit". Since this rebrand Flares The Spirit has released 2 projects Hidden and Revealed in 2021 and 2022 which contrasted each other in terms of both lyrics, style and song structure. 2023 saw Flares The Spirit hit the stage again a lot more while releasing Where You At? to recap the previous year.
