Odd Beholder is the Electro Wave / Indie Pop - project of Swiss musician Daniela Weinmann with which she records the oddities and misunderstandings of our time. Weinmann speaks of alienation and escapism, of emancipation and the possibilities of a better world. Her version of embracing, dark pop music grapples with unpleasant truths, just to provide comfort at the same time. While her debut album "All Reality Is Virtual" (2019) revolves around digitalization. On her second album "Sunny Bay" (2021) Weinmann turns her gaze to nature and to the romantism and the fears that we project onto it. Prior to that, Odd Beholder releases two EPs - "Lighting" (2016) and "Atlas" (2017). The collab EP "Lost in Communication" is released in spring 2023, which Weinmann recorded with Swiss songwriter Long Tall Jefferson. Odd Beholder's music is cinematic; for Weinmann visual expression is an essential component. Conversely, music from Odd Beholder's songs is often used in films. Odd Beholder has been invited to important showcase festivals such as Great Escape (UK), Eurosonic (NL) or Reeperbahn Festival (DE) and has toured in China, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. Weinmann is co-founder of Music Declares Emergency Switzerland, an independent initiative of artists, which advocates for climate protection on an industry-specific basis and develops responses to the climate emergency.
