Biography

Brenton Vinson, also known as VINSON is recording artist, producer and songwriter from Detroit, Michigan, now based in Los Angeles, California. As a vocalist, rapper, and producer his music integrates many influences found in Detroit's rich musical history from raw underground hip-hop, soul, house and techno. VINSON also draws inspiration from his families involvement in Detroits musical history with one great uncle being the lead singer of the iconic Motown singing group "The Four Tops" and the other singing for both "The Falcons" and "The Contours". He has performed in support of hip-hop and soul artists such as Ghostface Killah, CARRTOONS, DUCKWRTH and more. Also on his resume are official showcase performances at both SXSW in Austin, Texas and AC3 in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2021, remix EP of U and me at 3:03 showcased remixes from electronic music producers such as AshTreJinkins, Russell E.L. Butler and Benedek. He also joined on as a original resident at Oroko Radio based in Accra, Ghana looking to bridge the gap of the African diaspora through monthly program RBG Radio. VINSON released the mixtape "Loose Rap" in January 2022 as a postmodern interpretation of hip-hop and neo-soul genres and followed with "SoftSweetRadical" his label debut with Wichita Recordings in 2023 along with features from DJ Mag, Bandcamp Daily and BET. VINSON plans to release his debut LP in 2025.
