Biography

Interpreter "out of the ordinary" (Figaro) endowed with a "winged virtuosity" (Classica),"one of the greatest of her generation" (Piano Magazine) Performing in major venues such as Ravinia Festival Chicago, Verbier Festival, Paris Philharmonie , Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Tokyo Forum, La Fenice in Venice, Salzburg Mozarteum or Vienna Konzerthaus to name a few, Shani Diluka bridges the gap between East and West, between her piano and writing poetry (her book was on the prize list of Academie Française). Born in Monaco from Sri Lankan parents, she was discovered at the age of six by a program initiated by Princess Grace of Monaco for exceptional talent. She is the only pianist from the Indian continent to enter Paris Conservatory gaining 1st prize with Unanimity of the jury, and to enter the prestigious Lake Como International Piano Academy presided by Martha Argerich. Her solo recordings have won a large number of awards (Choc de la Musique, RTL d’Or, Choix d’Arte, de Mezzo, JapanVogue, 5 Diapasons, Telerama FFFF, Fanfare USA, Musikzen, Arena Award Japan). She becomes the first pianist from South Asia to join the prestigious Warner Classics label as an exclusive artist, also collaborating with actors like Gerard Depardieu or Sophie Marceau. She represents an innovative vision of classical music in a open and mixed world while transmitting the heritage she received from great masters such as Leon Fleisher, M. Pressler, Valentin Erben (Alban Berg quartet) or Elisabeth Leonskaja.
