Biography

Thomas Gorton + James Rand are God Colony, the London via Liverpool artists whose production styles move across industrial techno, hip-hop + UK bass. They met in their late teens on Liverpool's club scene going out together, playing in bands + DJing in clubs across the city. They lived together in a big house in Toxteth, a place where they threw parties regularly + made music, alongside other artists. It wasn't until their mid 20s that they began to work together properly, first making tunes on James' kitchen table in Hackney, not long after they'd both moved to London. Their early releases with FLOHIO were played regularly on Radio 1 + 6Music, + since then they've gone on to collaborate with artists such as Mykki Blanco, Stash Marina, GAIKA, Kojey Radical, BbyMutha, plus more. In 2020 they released their debut mixtape CULT on their own label Crack Copies, through which they put out other musicians such as legendary Manchester MC Strategy, the New Orleans rapper Mother Marygold + South London band Gorgers. Last year saw the release of the highly anticipated debut FLOHIO album, which the pair executive produced. Hypebeast, Dazed and Mixmag are continued supporters of their music, + their work has been used to soundtrack campaigns for Gucci, adidas, Versace, amongst others. Alongside their new releases and label events that run in partnership with Carhartt WIP, 2023 sees a slew of remixes commissioned by other artists, and a feature film soundtrack that they produced.
