Nate Barksdale is a pop culture connoisseur and a music-obsessive. The sonic palette of Nate’s songs are often funky, psychedelic and complemented by suggestive lyrics. The singer songwriter was raised on Prince, Gospel and Dance Music. He is a self-proclaimed afro-futurist who prides himself on being a performer entranced by the sounds he and his band creates: a true medium. With influences from Chicago House Music and Stepping Culture, Nate Barksdale’s live show has been described as “A new take on soul music or rather an automated update; A reboot of retro love songs colliding with synthetic instruments and human emotion.” He was tapped to play his first festival in June 2019 by the legendary Chicago radio station Vocalo (91.1fm); Soul Fest. Months later on September 20th he released an EP that defined the beginnings of his new sound, tilted “Neon Soul”.
