Bass-baritone Thilo Dahlmann studied singing with Ulf Bästlein and Berthold Schmid among others at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen, where he graduated with distinction. He was a member of the Zurich International Opera Studio. He sang at the Zurich Opera House, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf and the Theater St. Gallen under conductors such as Philipe Jordan, Nello Santi and Franz Welser-Möst. In the concert genre, a wide-ranging repertoire from Monteverdi to contemporary music has taken him to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Philharmonie of Paris, Moscow, Cologne and Essen, the Tonhalle Zurich and Düsseldorf, the folle Journée in Nantes and Tokyo. He has sung under conductors such as Hansjörg Albrecht, Frieder Bernius, Ottavio Dantone, Thomas Hengelbrock, Kay Johannsen, Robert King, Pieter Jan Leusink, Markus Stenz, Daniel Reuss, Christophe Rousset, Christoph and Andreas Spering, Michael Alexander Willens and Jaap van Zweden. He has been a guest at the Salzburg Festival, the Bach Festival Leipzig, the Handel Festival Halle, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and sang at the opening concert of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Radio and television recordings complement his artistic activities, as do CD and DVD recordings. In addition to his artistic activities, Thilo Dahlmann is professor of voice at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and previously taught at the Music Universities of Frankfurt, Graz and Cologne.
