Biography

Kayla Green is a rapper, songwriter, poet, actress, and self-published author. Raised in Las Vegas, she started her career as a spoken word artist participating in local open mics, which led to the publishing her first book Sweet Adolescence. She is a woman of letters, earning her Bachelor of Science in Political Science and her Master of Arts in International Affairs with a regional focus on Africa by the age of 24. Kayla’s content and message as an artist is centered around her positionally as a Black woman and advocacy for the disenfranchised communities of the Global majority. Through her music and writing she hopes to connect the African diaspora to their history and ancestral heritage, and help cultivate a new collective consciousness of honor, intellect and self-awareness in her generation. Kayla’s debut sing Wake Up was inspired by the global BLM movement in the summer of 2020, and as she continues to create new projects she draws on her passion for human rights issues and social justice to guide her creatively as an innovative, conscious female rapper in the music industry.
